Braille is a unique form of reading and writing, a system which was invented by Mr Louis Braille {January 4th 1809 - January 6th 1852} in the year 1825. Louis Braille was a blind Frenchman who was unable to read and write, and due to this, he developed the Braille Alphabet.
6 dot positions are used for Braille characters which are arranged in a vertical rectangle situated in 2 equal columns which contain 3 dots within each column. Different dot combinations are raised to create a specific alphabet character or number using the Braille system. This Braille system can be read for everybody, blind or not. Blind people read it by touch.Braille is now mainly used by blind people but the original idea (Barbier points) was for soldiers to be able to read at night without putting themselves in danger by using any light.
